Do you want to start running but don't know if you can keep up? It's not rocket science. We've got 5 tips to help you fall in love with running and discover all its benefits. Run with us!

Tip 1: Motivation & Find your WHY

The first (and most important) thing is to ask yourself WHY you want to start running. What are your reasons? In the beginning, you'll be full of motivation, and putting on your running shoes will be easy. But after a while, the motivation will fade (which is okay!) and discipline with perseverance must come into the game. So what is your reason WHY?

  • Better physical condition - You will improve your overall fitness, heart, and blood vessel function, and strengthen your tendons, ligaments, and joints. You'll feel better and have more energy for other activities - whether it's walking up the stairs or playing with the kids.
  • Training for a running race - The great atmosphere at a race is an unforgettable experience worth having. And be warned, it's highly addictive!
  • Psychohygiene - In today's chaotic and stressful times, running is one of the activities to turn your brain off for a while, just being with yourself and with absolutely nothing to deal with. What's more - it's always available and free!
  • Better sleep quality and a good mood - When you run endorphins are released, and you'll think different thoughts and maintain positive energy, which will help you go to bed with a clear head.
  • Losing extra pounds - Running is an energy-demanding activity and it is a suitable type of movement for weight reduction.

Whatever your WHY is, the main thing is that you need to enjoy it. Make running YOUR TIME that you look forward to. This is one of the best benefits that running can offer you. And if you ever don't feel like it, remember your WHY and that great feeling during and after running.

Tip 2 - Set a realistic goal

It doesn't matter if your goal is to run 5k in a row, feel better in your body, or train for your first race. The key word is REALISTIC. Take it slowly but surely. The saying "the journey is the destination" is definitely true when it comes to running. Enjoy the process, one step at a time, and the goals will go with it. Write your goal somewhere visible so you can keep it in sight. Visualize it and imagine that you have already achieved it. Feels good, doesn't it? Persevere and turn it into reality.

Tip 3 - New running shoes and clothes

New running shoes, new clothes, or even just a new headband. Try and test it as soon as possible. We all know it works! So treat yourself to something new from time to time and revive your running wardrobe.

Tip 4 - Favorite running playlist

Put on your sports headphones, press play on your favorite playlist, and go for a run. The combination of music and running is a kind of psycho-hygiene and you''ll quickly grow to love this habit. Create your own running playlist to get you out of the house in any situation. Audiobooks and podcasts are also great options!

Tip 5 - Discover new places

You can run anytime, anywhere and you don't need anything - except for good running shoes - to do it. Take advantage of this and discover new places and running routes. You will be surprised by the hidden corners in your surroundings and your run will always be different and full of adventure!
